Land of History & Natural Wonder

In between the Bodie Hills & the Sierra Mountains, the Bridgeport Valley sits as peaceful as can be. Dispersed ranches & farms on valley floor - at the base of 10,000' peaks.

Bridgeport California boast amazing scenery of the Sierra, gorgeous lakes, great camping, prime backpacking trail heads, primitive hot springs, hiking, fishing, antique shopping & horseback trails.

Visitors to Bridgeport often take advantage of one of California's best-kept natural hot springs, the Travertine Hot Springs, in the hills to the east of the town.

Trappers, explorers and emigrants discovered the Bridgeport Valley beginning about 1827 when a party led by Jedediah Strong Smith crossed the Sierra and picked up gold in the foothills around Mono Lake.

A historic walk through downtown Bridgeport includesthe Mono County courthouse, History Society museum, ghost house and 22 other sites. The Bridgeport Courthouse, a masterpiece of Victorian architecture, along with the Bridgeport Inn, has dominated the town of Bridgeport since its completion on April 1, 1881, and remains today as one of the few structures that reveal what was once the New England appearance of old Bridgeport.
